A short film noir that utilizes visuals, foreshadowing, music and dialogue to tell the complicated and often overlooked tales of broken dreams. Sadness, mental illness and the oceans of emotions, are what many human beings today find themselves navigating, often alone.
Rosario is a Hispanic woman in her 40’s from the United States, dealing with a mental crisis, she herself is struggling to understand or accept. It’s as if she were standing in the middle of a crowded room, screaming at the top of her lungs and no one can hear her. Rosario swims between reality and madness, until she encounters a person with some ray of hope through his positive messages, will it be enough to guide her through her own maze. Produced & Directed by María Picón

María Picón helms from Brooklyn, New York City. An American with Latino roots, her mot.her is from Spain and her father from Puerto Rico. Maria is a strong advocate of women’s right, Latino rights and bringing awareness to social issues within both hemispheres through her art. At 14 Maria worked as a young actor in “Shakespeare in the Park”, acting troupe. María also worked as an actor in a well-respected theater company while doing a year abroad in Granada, Spain, her mothers’ native country. She studied theater at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts at 17, before moving on to study film at Brooklyn College, finally graduating Suma Cumma Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, with a double major in Theater & for Pre-Law political science from the University of East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania
While still in college Maria helped create, host, write and produce a local TV show, called CPCS TV, where she and her producers focused on community issues, entertainment and bringing awareness, it aired weekly on local tv in New York City for three years. Maria also worked within the music industry while pursuing film. She worked for the President of Sony Music International in the A&R department for five years, learning from beginning to end how an album is produced, marketed, and sold worldwide, while simultaneously working hand in hand with some of the worlds’ biggest super stars on their projects. The job also included overseeing budgets for music videos and many times being on set for the filming. It was during this period that Maria acquired many of the tools she would later need to produce and direct music videos herself.
Maria produced and directed her first Music video for Warner Brothers Latin in 2005. After which, she took a hiatus focusing on raising her young daughter at the time. Since then, she has produced, and directed many music videos within the Urban or Pop music genres, which have collectively garnered over 20 million views since 2018 to present day. Maria has produced, and directed many of these videos, for major record labels and distributors, in some of the most beautiful locations of the world including Miami, Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, New York, Spain, Central and South America. Below are links to some of those works. Currently she has her first feature film in early pre-production stages, to shoot in India with the tentative start date in 2024.
As a wife and a mother, Maria has also found harmony and balance, watching her own child grow up into a successful, thriving young musical artist, who recently graduated from the Frost School of Music University of Miami. While Maria’s equally successful partner in life, supports her passions of storytelling & film making, as he runs his own solar energy finance company.
Maria’s passion for her community at large goes deep. She worries about mental health awareness, available assistance; especially within the Latino community which many times goes underserved due to stigma, language barriers and lack of knowledge and resources. Bringing awareness to this often-misunderstood medical condition; Maria found it urgent to create her short film, GOLD. In Gold, mental illnesses, depression, and suicide are treated with the respect, rawness, and realness
